Why a blog? Who am I to blog? Who would be interested in my adventures?
These were the questions I needed to answer to help me clarify my thoughts and reasons for starting a blog.
Why a blog?
It’s going to be my digital diary/journal, instead of handwriting these details. I’m an ‘old school’ typist – if my thoughts change, (which they often do) it’s easy to edit and make the changes. I also see it as a way to improve my writing; the more I write the more likely my writing will improve – here’s hoping!
Who am I to blog?
I am an ordinary everyday Kiwi gal, who happens to be a holder of a SuperGold card (a card that enables people over 65 yrs of age to discounts from a range of businesses and government concessions including “free off-peak” public transport within New Zealand). This age number 65 is important!
I often like to travel the “road less traveled”. I want my adult off-spring and grandchildren to have a record of my adventures and explorations and hopefully instill in them a sense of adventure – whatever that may mean and be and wherever that path may take them.
Who would be interested in my adventures?
Who knows, until you start sharing them. I love reading about and meeting people who have adventures, so thought why not share mine. I find joy and happiness in the simple things of everyday life, like stopping to smell the flowers; stopping and admiring the view; being in the moment – trying to incorporate mindfulness in my everyday life. If I can encourage one person to slow down and do something each day that makes their heart sing, then I’ve achieved something rewarding in my heart also.
I’ve got walks and bike rides I’ve already done within Waikato, New Zealand and overseas that I’d love to share. Some are small and cost nothing, others a little more of everything. I also have some family recipes, which are requested on a regular basis.
So that is it. Pretty short on content but this is only the beginning of a journey into the unknown and what better way to start than to start writing.
“Nothing ventured – nothing gained” is one of my favourite sayings along with “if I wasn’t afraid, what would I do?” Tell me your favourite saying(s)?
