Quote for the day:
“Ends are not bad things, they just means that something else is about to begin. And there are many things that don’t really end, anyway, they just begin in another way. Ends are not bad and many endings are not really ending: somethings are never-ending.”

Welcome to day 33 – it has finally arrived – the end of level four – total lockdown – yippie! I think this quote is perfect for tonight’s post. I’m not really ending but beginning in another way. What that way will be I have yet to decide. One thing for sure I won’t be posting everyday – perhaps every second day until we are in level two. I need time to think about where to from here and let my mind explore, dream and come up with some ideas and options and then explore then. (Probably need a cycling adventure to do that).
Depending on what you read, depends on how many days it takes to form a new habit or life-style change. Just done a quick Google search and found some interesting articles. I had understood (rightly or wrongly) it takes 21 days to form a new habit, so initially when I started this blog I had hoped that it would become an enjoyable daily habit! Then I’ve read about the 21/90 rule which blew my initial thoughts out the window. It’s suggested that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make a lifestyle change. Commit a goal for straight 21 days and it will become a habit. And beyond that, if you are able to do a thing for 90 days consecutively, it will become a part of your daily routine. You no longer need to worry about it. So to make blogging a regular activity I need to be doing this for another 57 days!! OMG – my biggest fear/concern is “what do you write about to make it interesting and worthwhile reading Heather for another 57 days?” “I have no idea, but hasn’t that been the case many times over the last 33 days?” I replied to myself. So there you have it – another 57 days to go – we’ll wait and see!! As I said above nothing really ends, it just starts in a new way – looking forward to what may be. Have you ever tried to change a habit or make a lifestyle change? How did you find it and what were your strategies?
I remember reading a few years back that acquiring a habit like smoking, taking drugs, over-eating etc, is very enjoyable in the beginning but then it takes over your life and becomes an addiction which is no longer enjoyable. That initial pleasurable experience has long gone. When I reflected on this idea it made sense to me. Does this makes sense to you?

Your feedback please
I’d appreciate you taking a little time and telling me about what you have enjoyed most about reading this blog? Was it reading the recipes, quotes, comments, viewing the photos or something else? You can post them and put a note at the end to say “do not publish please”. I have to approve the posts before they are available for public viewing, just in case you are shy! Thank you in advance.

Another eye-catching camellia I saw when out walking the other day. During this blogging process I’ve become a big fan of camellias and will probably plant more around my garden. Do you have a photo of your favourite camellia you’d like to share. (Remember to take a close-up photo.)
“Please don’t tag me vulnerable”
Thank you Denise for recommending this article written by a local writer Venetia Sherson. She argues that labeling older people as vulnerable risks stigmatising them. Makes a good read for everybody. Like to hear your thoughts about the article.
UK signs of spring
Thank you “Unhurried in Hamilton” for the following photos from his sister’s garden in England. Just think people, spring is not that many months away – always good to have something to look forward too!
So what has been happening in your world today? Have you finished that To-do list or has it just got longer? Look forward to hearing from you.
For those of you who are still more or less in lockdown, be kind and patient to yourself and everybody on your bubble. Take care – Goldcard Gal 🙂
PS I visited the A & E clinic this morning and hopefully got my issues sorted – well here’s hoping! Time will tell.

The roads are certainly much busier now at level 3. Enjoy the beautiful autumn and so glad Heather to know you have got your gut issues sorted. This is just for you no need to publish this one. Looking forward to catching up on Saturday. I have just enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and loved especially the photos and quotes for each day. Whatever you do enjoy the journey that is my motto.

Heather, I have just enjoyed the connection to you. Each morning as I read your blog alongside the news I feel as if I am part of your daily world. Inclusive. Such a nice feeling before I rush off to work.

“WORK” That’s a 4 letter word.
We will not have any of that please!

Does anyone know if we can take a shower yet?
Or should we just keep washing our hands.
