Quote for the day:
“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.”

Welcome to day 32, another beautiful autumn day. Two more sleeps until we move out of total lockdown! How did you spend your day today?
My day has been pretty quiet, did a bit of sanding and applying undercoat to some of the weather boards on my house. One day next week I’m looking forward to be able to purchasing some paint to finish the touch ups. Caught up with friends this afternoon – of course keeping our social distancing. And that is about it. I seem to be lacking ideas – guess that is because I’m tired and not feeling great. Quiet unusual for me and if this feeling of lethargy and random abdomen pain continues will contact my GP next week.
In case you missed out on day 32’s comments, click here and check out readers input, their thoughts and their happenings. There are some impressive comments. Do check out this little video from “Unhurred in Hamilton” it’s very cute.
Thank you “Unhurried in Hamilton” for this delightful photo of the bird house at his home.
WW11 Pasifika Coastwatchers
Yesterday on the National Radio there was an thought-provoking interview with Willie Cuthers. He was talking about his journey to uncover and get recognition for his maternal grandfather and many other local Pasifika men. They maned the surveillance stations from which they collected and relayed intelligence as part of NZ’s defence system. This was when they were expecting Japanese invasion at any time. There were well over 100 stations throughout the Pacific Islands and these could not have been run without local man power, skill and intelligence provided by these men. These Pasifika men played their part in NZ’s defence system but their contribution has never been formally acknowledged by New Zealand. It’s Willie’s aim to rewrite the history of the Pasifika coastwatchers. A good listen.
Re prioritising your values
As the result of the last 31 days are you going to re-prioritise your values or how you currently live?
Signs of autumn
Thank you “Carly of Tamahere” and “I-Solution Wanaka” for your signs of autumn and Jan for your grand-daughters ANZAC display. You must have had an inkling that I didn’t have any photos for today.
Last post tomorrow night? Still thinking about what, and where to from here. Not a good idea to be making any decisions at the moment!!
Remember to be patient and kind to yourself and everybody in your bubble. Take care – Goldcard Gal “-)

Heather thank you for taking the time to keep us entertained with your blog. I have looked forward to reading it every evening, enjoyed the comments from your regular readers, the photos you have shared and the recipes also. You are an inspiration to us all, I would love to see photos of your finished ‘to do list’ projects, maybe you could share them sometime. Stay safe.

Lockdown day 32.
Last day at level 4 (For now)
Mowing the lawn today, very pleasing to see all the new shoots poking their heads up.
Growl and roar! We will have none of that!” Off with their heads!”
Have to keep them in their place.
Looking back it seems an age since I set out to clean out the debris and waste with the de thatching rake.
Still no access to Sulphate of Iron to give the Moss it’s coup de gras. I will try as soon as the garden centers open for on line orders this week.
Fortunately the “Injuns” also never proved to be the trouble that could have been. Maybe their bubble was strong enough to hold them in.
Neighbourhood dogs have all now got shorter stumpy legs and Jenny Craig will not have so many clients for a while.
Our suburb houses many self employed and business owners and I anticipate much more activity in the next few days.
The noise of road traffic has increased a little over the past 2 days and I guess tomorrow morning will foreshadow a steady increase back to full noise.
The Tour de Garage is over until the next international crisis.
As anticipated, today’s stage being a formality was undertaken with a ride along cycle paths and through the city, along the river and culminating in a grand parade over the railway bridge at Frankton.
All members of the Gordonton team completed the route and were present in the finale.
This dominant performance emphasises just how important that once a week ride with mates is for our well being and health.
It may well be that others that have read or contributed to Heather’s 32 day blog may very well wish to join us. 10:00am every Tuesday at Gordonton village hall.
Presumably when we move to level 2 in a few weeks, may be the time we are allowed to gather together once again.
Thank you all for your contributions.

Thank you “Unhurried in Hamilton” for your descriptive, entertaining daily updates. A long time reader did say you could use baking soda on your moss, not sure if that was in liquid form or directly as powder – guess you could try both and see what happens. Like you I’m also looking forward to being back amongst my Tuesday friends, for socialisation and a a little bit of cycling. Thanks again 🙂

Hi Heather I am trying again, last post did not go. Enjoyed the video of the window cleaner, just makes me realise how fortunate we are as a family with no current health issues to face. I increased my bubble this morning by one and meet up with my sister-in-law for a bike ride in the fog. Just as well we had arranged it yesterday or I would have stayed home instead of venturing out in all my warm gear. It was actually not too bad and was really nice to have some company today instead of riding on my own. We did not get too close but obviously did break the 2 metre rule a day early. I do hope people will continue with the walking and biking we have seen during the last 3 weeks, would make us a healthier nation. You are a STAR Heather doing this blog for the lock down time, have enjoyed turning on the computer each day to see your quotes and photos. Take care looking forward to you joining our bubble.

Heather what a marathon you have run. Well done. In the years to come you will enjoy rereading this diary and remembering the challenges COVID 19 brought.

Thank you Denise, at times it sure has felt like a marathon! 🙂
