Quote for the day:
“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”
— Dale Carnegie
Welcome to day 29. Not many days to go in total lockdown. Are you looking forward to a little more freedom come next Tuesday and perhaps extending the size of your bubble? What will level three mean to you? Back to work or more of the same?
Today here in Matangi it has been another enjoyable and rewarding day. Had a bike ride this morning which involved, dropping off excess fruit, picking up mail for a friend, supermarket shopping and after some lunch mowing my lawns. The best part was having drinkies late this afternoon with good friends via Zoom. We caught up on the gossip – not much there and what each of us have been up too. Using Zooom is a great way to keep in touch and see each other’s happy smiley faces. Wonder what you have been up to today? Do you Zoom/Skype/Whats App/Face-time your family and friends?

Today’s feature image
Thank you “Prudence of St Andrews” for today’s feature image. Isn’t it beautiful, the way the colours blend randomly and how the yellow stamens contrast with the colours of the petals? During this time in lockdown I’ve become a big fan of camellias. Guess that is partly because I’ve taken the time to really look at the flowers and taking close-up photos has opened my eyes to the beauty of them and the variety of camellias.

Zero waste ideas
I saw this article is NZ Lifestyle Block magazine. Thought you may find it useful if you are cleaning out cupboards and looking at ways to reduce your amount of waste.
Well that is it for tonight. Remember to be kind and patient to yourself and everybody in your bubble. Take care – Goldcard Gal 🙂

Lockdown day 29
Mayor says.
“Queenstown goes from richest to one of poorest districts”
Well?
What are you going to do about it “Machine”?
Gallivanting about the country side and growing beards is just not on.
We need a plan.
How about organizing bike tours to attract the rich folk from up north?
Tramping around local beauty spots for the hikers.
Presumably there is going to be some good accommodation deals into the future and if not, why not?
Winter paradise: Log fires: Hot soup: Fresh local bread:
I even hear that there are vineyards in the locality with a few passable wines.
All the good basic stuff most regular New Zealanders have found difficult to afford in recent years in “darkest down south”:
Now there is no pressure in this:
It’s that: Just Do It! thing again.
Imagine, we could have a complete Gordonton Tuesday cycle ride in July in Wanaka.
How many do you think we could attract?
Perhaps side attractions and outings for non riders.
We might even get to meet some locals – Do they speak the same down there?
Just a thought! Shoot me down if it’s a mad idea.
Another real ride today, this time out around Peacockes, up to Rukuhia, and back past the blueberry orchards and through The Temple.
Any more of this and we will not be able to finish the Tour de Garage.
ANZAC tributes in many of the gardens and properties.
Golden trees and the return of green fields. Wonders to behold!
Then back to town. Oh well.

Hi Heather, great day today weather wise nice and warm enjoyed a bike ride this morning. Garden and lawn mowing this afternoon Plus baking a date loaf so feel I can now sit down enjoy a beer and some potato chips. Lupin is also something Tony has planted in the garden to dig in for soil health. Loved the photo of the olive harvest. Looking forward to enlarging our bubble a little next week. Cheers for now.

Hi Heather
We have been enjoying your blog. A great effort!
Life has actually been busy for us managing work with only the family bubble and no staff. I have been struggling with our slow internet with staff trying to be connected to our server. We are getting faster wireless Wifi on Tuesday. We are getting organized for our busy season which will operate under very different protocols.
Ben will be delighted that you are appreciating camellias!
Take care and enjoy this beautiful weather.
Love Fran

GoldCard Gal says
