Quote for the day:
“The one of the most beautiful gifts in the world is one of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own”. by John O’Donohue
Welcome to day 19. What a change in the weather, the rain was most welcome, keeping my fingers crossed for some more. Wonder what activities you have done on day 19 in lock-down?
In case you have missed reading day 18’s comments, click here get up to date.
Thank you Sue for providing me with the feature image on today’s post. I love the tinges of pink on the end of the white petals. Taking the photographs and posting them has been and still is a good learning experience for me. Especially taking close-ups, you really get to see all the parts that make up the bloom, they are so intricate, delicate and exquisite. I trust you find them as picturesque and as interesting as I do? Please feel free to send any close-ups of your flowers.
The above quote is for one of my long time readers – Susan. When we were chatting this morning she informed me she looks forward to reading my blog each morning, one of the first things she does. Thank you Susan for that encouragement because at times I wonder ‘can I be bothered’, ‘who really cares if I post or not’ but knowing that you and others are looking forward to reading them, then I must continue and not get lax!
I awoke this morning with my body telling me it needs a ‘slow day and some pampering’! As it was raining it was a good justification to stay in bed a little longer and read a few more pages of my book. Decided today was about being creative in my shed and taking part in a Zoom session in yoga titled “Restorative Yoga“. What better way to recharge the batteries and take care of “me”. My neighbour Sue had mentioned the Monday afternoon yoga session. Thank you Sue it was just what the doctor ordered – so to speak. The 1 1/2 hr session went by quite quickly and at the end I felt very relaxed and in-tune with my body.
Carly’s chutney
This is Carly’s finished product from the chutney recipe I posted the other day. Thank you Carly for your photograph. She did say the chutney went well with blue cheese and crackers – can imagine it does!
Signs of autumn
Thank you “I-Solution Wanaka” for the following photograph taken near Sticky Forest walk, Wanaka.
Well that is it for Day 19. Look forward to hearing about your happenings and events.
Be patient and be kind to yourself and everyone else in your bubble. Stay safe – Goldcard Gal 🙂

I enjoy the comments: it’s good to find out what people are doing in these quite different times: so for me out for a trot this afternoon after gardening. There is still lots out exercising and still being friendly. There are plenty of signs of autumn out running and it’s quite cool. We spend the weekend sorting our Hamilton stuff. Putting two houses into one is difficult but can be achieved. You have to make decisions what to keep or not: so the recycling Centre and the Sallies have done very well. It’s an on going task but we are getting there. The days rush on…I-Solution🏠

Great to get your latest happenings “I-Solution” thank you. Like you I thoroughly enjoy reading everyone’s comments and happenings. 🙂

Lockdown day 18.
Today’s eye catching head line:
“Person uncovers human remains on rural property near Hamilton”
Apparently this was near Horsham Downs, right slap dead centre for most of the cycling runs out of the Gordonton and Rototuna meeting centres.
Is this the result of a dastardly deed?
Is it the result of rural misadventure?
Could it be an ancient burial site?
Or is it someone who just could not keep up with us?
One thing is for sure, it predates Covid19 so will not add to the horrible toll that is growing daily:
Today I took my once a week heart in mouth risk and ventured to the supermarket.
Mask and gloves on – Check
Bring my own bags – Check
Take discount card – Check
Remember to take Pay Wave card – Check
Take shopping list written in order of products displayed – Check.
Make sure to follow direction arrows on the floor of the isles – Check
Constantly check for traffic separation – Check
It’s almost as complicated as the takeoff procedure for an Airbus A380
Same cues but generally more normal behaviour by most customers is noticable.
All stock seems to be back to normal with only a few exceptions.
Still could not get the MOSS killer. It must be considered a non essential.
More technical fiddling in the workshop that today got so out of hand that I missed signing on for the start of today’s stage of the Tour de Garage and missed the start.
Probably a good thing too as sleep for some reason was hard to come by last night and almost certainly had I started, would very soon have blown up and been left behind.
As it is, I will play the “Mum said I am not allowed out to play today” card, and hopefully roll up tomorrow and no one will have noticed.
Now off to bed early.

Oh my goodness – a body in/near Horsham Downs?? Thanks for the updates “Unhurried in Hamilton”. Your trip to the supermarket does sound quite stressful but do enjoy your procedure description. 🙂

Morning Heather, another lazy day here at Tamahere, picked up two large bags of feijoas hopefully Bill will collect and distribute around to those interested. Baking day for me today, will need to do a little more exercise with more than usual in the tins and no visitors to help eat it up. Thanks for the note on the yoga classes on Monday will tune in next week as my usual Tuesday sessions are on hold and my enthusiasm for going alone is not great in fact to be honest it does not happen. Certainly enjoying the no pressure to actually have to accomplish anything although I do feel better at the end of the day if I can at least have done something worthwhile. The wind is howling outside at the moment and rain coming in again so off to the kitchen to cook up a storm. Keep well and stay in your bubble we are nearly there and it will be worth it if we can keep this virus on the hop.
GoldCard Gal says
Another busy day “Carly of Tamahere” thank you for the updates. I saw on that yoga website Neal has online classes Tuesday and Friday 9 am – 10 am. Have a successful day in the kitchen! 🙂

Heather I realise I have been very lax in not giving you comments on your postings! These I have been reading each morning and look forward daily to the different photos and peoples perspectives on autumn (or Spring in northern hemisphere). So thank you for your blog and please do not stop. You are truly an inspiration Heather.
As an ECE teacher you might think there is nothing for me to do from home, however my colleagues and I still have huge amounts of admin work to do whilst in lockdown. We have also been making videos every day to keep a connection with our children and families, who really appreciate our efforts. Story telling, songs, activities and information for parents have been flowing.
Every day I have been exploring the walkways and open spaces around my local neighbourhood, which is proving a treasure trove for natural resources to eventually take back to work. I have also been using this as a reflective time, reconnecting with my meditation practice, Pilates, video chats with family and friends.
One of my 12 yr old twin grand daughters (Caitlin) has blown me away with her inventiveness and entrepenuerial skills. She independantly created a website for a business teaching 5 to 10 year olds some extra reading skills. This is week two of being online and she has 4 clients already. My daughter and son in law have wisely decided to not stress about their 3 girls doing school work but rather letting them have free run with their creativity.
I look forward to your next instalment Heather.

Thank you Helen for your comments and updates. 🙂 I enjoy hearing what you are doing as an ECE teacher, making videos everyday must be quite time consuming but rewarding – bit like writing a blog eh?? What a great idea Caitlin has and good on her, be interesting to see it, any chance of a link? Thanks for the photos Helen will include them sometime soon. 🙂

Hi Helen,
The kids are just great and what a wonderful result from such a sad and horrible event for them to live through.
My grand daughter 12 and grandson 14 have also done something very similar and have set up a website for their mother’s place of work (A sports medicine clinic). No one has had time to do but these kids just got on with it.

Don’t stop them Heather we will have nothing to look forward to!!!
This my fav part of the garden, Ted’s tractor seats, gorgeous, such good cover and great green! Didn’t sit in my garden today rather walked the 18 holes on the golf course again. Have now done this every other day and seeing the course visibly change as we get a bit of rain. Of course members are very concerned about the greens and they are looking a little off, I believe they are allowed to be mown this week. from “Prudence of St Andrews” 🙂
GoldCard Gal says
Thank you “Prudence of St Andrews”. Yes every time I see my tractor seat plants of think of Ted. Yes I heard on the radio this morning that the golf course green keepers are allowed back to work – yippee 🙂
