Quote for the day:
“Be happy. Be yourself. If people don’t like it, then let them be. Happiness is a choice. Life isn’t about pleasing everybody”. by Unknown
Welcome to day 18 – another beautiful autumn day. Thank you Jan for the featured image. Have you noticed how much cooler the evenings and mornings are now? This morning I put my winter duvet on the bed so looking forward to snuggling under it tonight. Today being Easter Sunday did you do anything special within your bubble? How did today compare to previous Easter Sundays?
Click here to read day 17’s comments. Always a good read.
Easter Sunday spent in the garden
Did nothing special other than spend several hours in my garden. Divided and planted many clivia plants, emptied the compost bin around the garden and split and replanted some tractor seat plants. So all in all I’m very pleased with my to-do list today. This afternoon did the grocery run for the over 70’s and myself. As I was taking the car (first time I’ve driven in approx 3 weeks) I noticed everyone ordered ice-cream!! So what does that tell me? Supermarket was quiet and no cuing. 🙂
Signs of spring
“Signs of spring” is correct. Today I have no ‘signs of autumn’, so thought I’d show you what is happening in Eastbourne, UK. “Unhurried in Hamilton” has sent through the following ‘signs of spring’ from his sister’s garden. Aren’t the colours exquisite? We have a few cold and wet months to endure before we get to enjoy these signs of spring, but it will come.
I’m feeling a bit jaded and the mind is tired, so that is it for day 18.
Be patient and be kind to yourself and everyone else in your bubble. Take care – Goldcard Gal 🙂

Lockdown day 18.
As the 1950 Flanders & Swann song of the weather records:
“April brings the sweet Spring showers,
On and on for hours and hours.”
So it was today, except for us they were sweet autumn showers.
Indoors therefore was the order of activity today:
I had decided at the beginning of lockdown that one task that could be achieved was to dust and clean out my workshop. It is not overly dirty, as by nature I am quite the tidy type. However the build up of fine sanding, spray painting and other sundry particles leaves a patina of dullness over everything. It’s just that there is an awful lot of everything.
Some years back I had prepared a PC for our grand kids could use when visiting.
Now no longer used due to having their own gadgets that far surpass that old clunker in the spare bedroom. I had decided to relocate said PC into the workshop for easy immediate access to You Tube tutorials and general technical information that before required the removal of shoes and a journey in doors to the home PC.
I decided that the clean up was a good opportunity to combine the PC into the workshop
So cleaning is waiting and messing about fitting said PC is underway.
Life is like a Bicycle.
To keep your balance
You must keep moving!
To that end we return to the Tour de Garage. A short stage today because my son kept me talking far too long during his “check up on the oldies visit”. Not that I am ungrateful.
We journeyed into the Ardennes today with many a steep short sharp climb that soon sorted the men from the boys. (Or girls from the women) if your into that.
The Gordonton team do not generally have the pedigree for this type of racing but again today they showed that on the rare occasions when we integrate Little Naike into our training good things emerge.
The stamina of the team showed through and we held our own among the best on offer.
Dynamic Des was given a free day and he used it well, escaping up hill on the wrong side of the road that completely surprised the opposition. He went on to catch an earlier break and stayed with them to the finish coming in a creditable ninth place.
The rest of us backed each other up and we stayed in the main field to retain overall positions.
It’s working! I have maintained my weight loss with out leaving home.
However the garage carpet is going to require a shampoo to get rid of the sweat stains once lockdown is over.

Loved the photos Heather. Always something different to see. Walked to Fairfield Bridge yesterday and came back through Parana Park. Gardens are bright and colorful with Autumn blooms. Di and Tony helping me batch my photos. They have needed doing for a long time . I seem to have them everywhere from Dropbox to D drive!!!! They are able to help me remotely through Skype so i need another hour today and the FIRST section will be done. Feels really a great achievement though.
